6 Silly Engagement Ring Myths – An Engagement Ring for Dummies Post

Men – it’s hard enough having to build up the guts to ask the love of your life to marry you, right? Wouldn’t it be nice if buying her an engagement ring was a simple process? Well, through the years people have come up with some silly myths when it comes to engagement rings, so let’s get things straight right now.

Myth #1: You have to spend 2 month’s salary on a diamond engagement ring. Really? There is absolutely no set rule as to how much you need to spend on her ring. You can spend whatever you want to spend as long as you know it is the right ring for your future wife.

Myth #2: All diamond rings are expensive. This is far from the truth. There are many stunning, modestly priced rings out there that will undoubtedly blow your bride away. With a little research and hunting skills, you will do just fine.

Myth #3: There is a right type of ring and a wrong type of ring. How can this be true with all of the different trends going on? Your beau may adore an antique engagement ring, or maybe she prefers something edgy or modern. Either way, there is no right or wrong type of ring. It all depends on what your love’s style is.

Myth #4: There is only one style of engagement ring. I am not even sure how this myth got started. Like I said before, there are styles anywhere from vintage to recycled metals. You can choose how many diamonds, carats, what kind of metal; there is no limit to the different styles and designs out there. Just pick what is right for your girlfriend and within your budget.

Myth #5: The bigger the diamond, the better the ring. There are so many qualities to consider when you’re on the look for an engagement ring, and honestly, size doesn’t make a bit of difference. What you should focus on are color, clarity and cut. In fact, a smaller diamond engagement ring may even be more brilliant and beautiful than a larger one.

Myth #6: Yellow gold rings are outdated. The metal you choose for the engagement ring really just depends on the taste of your fiancée. Sure, platinum and white gold may be more popular than yellow gold, but what suits her?

Guys, don’t give in to all of the hype surrounding engagement rings. If you know what the love of your life likes, then you will do just find when searching for an engagement ring that will represent your love for her.
