Cleaning gold can be the most simple thing in the book! The only ingredients you will need to make a cleaning concoction are dishwasher soap and warm water! Take about 2 1/2 cups of lukewarm to warm water, a few small drops of dishwasher solution, mix it together until soapy and then add your jewels! Once they have soaked for 20 minutes, take a toothbrush and scrub the gold with a small douse of soap. Rinse with warm water and watch your jewelry glisten! This mixture works for White Gold and Yellow Gold pieces and pearls!

Although diamonds are the hardest mineral they still require maximum care when cleaning. Steaming is the ultimate way to clean these sparklers, but don’t worry there are other at-home methods that will get your diamond jewelry just as clean! Forget about those ultrasonic cleaners and grab some ammonia to clean with! If you do not have ammonia in the house, liquid detergent is a nice substitute. The ingredients necessary are warm water and ammonia. This procedure takes 20 minutes total. In a bowl, put 1 cup of warm water and only 1/4 a cup of ammonia. Mix together and let your diamonds sit in the solution for 20 minutes. Gently scrub your jewelry with a tooth brush after, rinse with warm water and let sit to dry. Make sure to wear gloves and do this cleaning away from children.

  • Silver Jewelry

Many people confuse tarnished silver as rust that has grown on their jewelry over the years, but in reality silver doesn’t EVER rust! Removing tarnish can be done at your local jewelry store and is the best most effective method. If your silver is not tarnished all you have to do is buy a polishing cloth. This is a small rectangular cloth that literally polishes silver. If it is tarnished buy a silver dip and rub it in small crevices of the piece and wait five minutes (or whatever is directed on the package). Then wipe off with a towel. Follow by taking a polishing cloth to it to give it the ultimate finish.

  • Gemstones

Most gemstones are sturdy enough to withstand cleaning. If you do not have any type of ultrasonic cleaner we would suggest gently scrubbing your gemstone jewelry with a soft bristle toothbrush. Rinse the gemstone under water and then put a drop of detergent on your toothbrush. Scrub and rinse and you should be impressed with the end result!
