The 10 Commandments of Bridal Beauty

It’s your wedding day, so it would be practically sinful to not look your best as you walk down the aisle and when you stand at the altar across from your groom. To make sure you look absolutely stunning throughout the entire ceremony, you’ll want to follow these rules. The…

The 10 Commandments of Bridal Beauty

  1. You Shall Not Over-Accessorize. Don’t just pile on the bling and accessories. Choose just one piece such as earrings or a vintage birdcage veil to make your look simple and elegant.
  2. You Shall Play Up Your Best Feature. You know what your best feature is, so show it off! If you have great skin, accentuate it with light-reflecting lotion to make it even more radiant. For gorgeous eyes, use false lashes to open them up even more. Great teeth? Find the perfect lip stain to show off your beautiful smile.
  3. You Shall Find a Veil That Works With the Shape of Your Face. This can be a little tricky. But here is the easiest advice: If your face is round, pick a narrow veil or hairstyle; if your face is long, choose one with more volume.
  4. Don’t Limit Yourself to a Strapless Dress. Yes, strapless dresses are pretty and popular, but you will look pretty silly walking down the aisle, constantly pulling up your dress because it doesn’t fit you correctly. If you have a full bust, think about wearing an off-the-shoulder or sweetheart style; otherwise, a V or Sabrina neckline would look beautiful also.
  5. Wear Metals that Match. First of all, whatever accessories you choose to wear should depend on the color of your dress. If you’re wearing a bright white dress, stick to pearl and platinum. For an off-white dress, gold and silver will work out just fine; however, an ivory wedding dress calls for gold and warmer metals. The only exception: your stunning wedding ring. It goes with everything!
  6. Don’t Hold Your Bouquet Like a Trophy. This may seem minor, but everyone notices how you hold your bouquet. Your bouquet should complement your look, so simply grasp the stems with both hands, hold your thumbs against your navel, and relax your arms for a natural, elegant look.
  7. Don’t Slouch At the Altar. All eyes will be on you during the ceremony. So pull those shoulders back and stand up straight. This will make you look happy and confident rather than uncomfortable.
  8. Dance Confidently. Your first dance is another moment during your wedding in which everyone will be watching you. So, even if you don’t have some fancy choreograph dance lined up, at least make a conscious effort to stand up tall and confidently with your new hubby as you move together.
  9. Do Not Crash Diet. Sure,  you’ll make likely drop a pound or two a couple of weeks before the big day because you’re nervous and excited, but don’t try to lose any more than that right before the wedding. If you do, you’ll end up exhausted which is terrible when you’re supposed to be enjoying every minute of this special day with your new spouse.
  10. Smile Big. Not that you needed to be reminded, I mean, this is the happiest day of your life! But, honestly, a smile makes all the difference. There is no easier way to make you look stunning than a natural smile.
